Thor’s Day

October 3, 2013

(Thor – the dude of thunder)

Thursday is one of my favorite days of the week.

I like to call it Friday Eve.

I go around saying “Happy Friday Eve!” to people at work.

A woman once said to me, “It’s not night time.”

I said, “The day before Christmas is always called Christmas Eve.”

“Oh, yeah,” she said, “I see.”

Etymologists say that the day was named after Thor, the Norse god of thunder.

My wife really likes Thor.

She wouldn’t mind if they renamed it Chris Hemsworth Day.

I think it’s cool that Marvel has a day of the week named after one of their super heroes.

I bet DC wishes they had a day named after Superman.

But carrying on along the same lines of mythological thinking…

What if they had named a day after Hercules?

Hercuday.

What day of the week would it have been?

Perhaps it would have occupied the day before Thorsday.

Monday, Tuesday, Hercuday, Thorsday, Friday…yeah that works.

Happy Thorsday, everybody!

    Hey Ernie,
Loved your drawing. I’m thinking along the same lines. What if a day of the week was named after another super hero. What if say Tuesday was Batmanday or Hulkday or greenhornetday. As you can see the possibilities are endless so we used to call Thursday *HIT [*=S] sure happy it’s Thursday!

  2. Rich, you get extra-credit points for suggesting both a Batmanday AND a Greenhornetday. NICE!
